For over 50 years, Dave Smeak humbly served as a member of the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company and was a life member.  He served as fire chief from 1969 to 1971.  In the 60's, he was known to have delivered a baby or two in the back of the ambulance and earned the nickname "Doc".  In later years he was a big part of the fire police in both Taneytown and Adams County, PA.  Dave was also an Honorary member of the Pleasant Valley Fire Company. He will be greatly missed by members of several organization and remembered for the dedication, desire, and drive for the job.
