James Salley was a life member of the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company, serving in various capacities for over 40 years, including Chief, President, Carnival Committee Chairman as well as many other committees.  His dedication to the fire service was a priority in his life, and he was especially pleased to be very instrumental in the planning and construction of the present facility, which was dedicated in 1994.  He was also a Life Member of the Maryland Fire Chief’s Association, as well as a member of the Cumberland Valley Fireman’s Association.  Jim’s positive impact on this department has and will be greatly felt for many years to come.  He will be greatly missed by family and friends of the department.
