It is with deep sadness that the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company announces the passing of Paramedic Jeff Schaffer. Jeff has worked for Taneytown as a Part Time Paramedic for several years. Jeff has also been involved with several other stations through out the county. Jeff was a member of the Pleasant Valley Community Volunteer Fire Company and also worked at Lineboro Volunteer Fire Company. He also served the county in several vital roles with in EMS. He served as Chairman of the EMS Operations Committee and currently served as Chairman of the Carroll County Medical Advisory Board. Jeff spent countless hours mentoring many EMS providers through out the county, especially Taneytown in most recent years. Jeff also received several awards throughout his career, including the MIEMSS EMS Provider Of The Year for the state of MD. Jeff was always known for giving it to you straight, and showing you the skills to make it on the street. We would also like to offer our condolences to his wife and children, and thank them for sharing him with the EMS community!

Thoughts and prayers for his family and all of his fellow extended family at this time. I met this man a few times on ambulance calls for my father. A truly caring, supportive, knowledgeable, person. May he be in peace now with God. He has helped so many, now Sir, it's your time to rest.

RIP Jeff and thank you for your service to humanity. Jeff and I worked at Dunkin Donuts on Liberty Rd in the late 60's. He had a great work ethic and sense of humor. We lost touch when I went into the military only to met again years later at an EMS seminar. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
